Hacked by Staq

Can I just say that the Staqsquatch is a beast. Normally when its just me and pup going toe to toe and one on one I get beaten up, bruised, injured and have my sunglasses broken. But really thats not more than being tickeled when the man with a chest like a barrell of fairy floss is playing D on you. Damn Staq! I thought you had been scant at the gym of late. Twice in the same week has me near destroyed.

The traditional Beavers' AllSt*r Weekend game this year drew its line down the map pitting the West's Tanacious, the HartThrob and TShaq (who came only from the East?) against the East's (who came from the West and North?) NVP, Mamberto, the Tang Dynasty and Staqhouse.

Booyakacha! The West was won. Meaning that the West got up, not that it was won over by the East. Like the undertaker at Wrestlemania, T is undefeated in the allstar game- get on that wicket! (When T got traded for pup, T may have then lost three games in a row, but the for the one that counted: Woooooh!).

Game 1 v West Magpies tonight. Forget about kicking ass! Lets crack some heads!

NVP!

He's done it again. Baron Nathaniel Doggcrest the 3rd is your 2007 A3 Beavers' Most Valuable Player-- and rightly so. Congrats pup- you'll be an obvious choice for the BBBBBL's hall of fame one day.

As predicted the contest came down to the wire with the final tally coming up Dogg with MVT, Huge and LongTan only a dummy spit at Sue behind. Ed and LudaChris' final countdown hilighted the big games everyone has had all season- and Mad Props go out to all.

I'm writing this, so I'll give me a little love: 20 votes Dogg and I'd have been drinking softies from your golden cup! As much as I know you'll want to be NV3 next season, you've got to know that you'll have everyone on the team eyeing off your wristband.

The peripheral awards featured the first three way tie: Mr Small a dead heat between Long Mamba, LongTan and Long Tang. Tight Reigns (Mr Defence, Mr Grit, Mr Thief, and Mr Small), and Dogg (Mr Offence, Mr Clutch and Mr Playoffs) cleaned up, while TTrain (Mr Big, Mr Rejection), Snaq (Mr Beaver and Mr Small), the Canyon (Mr Hustle), the Staq (Mr Intangiable, a true passing of the batton), TScope (Mr Injection) and Double H (Mr Playmaker) took out the rest. In the biggest surprise of the night, only T took up the offer of a complimentary photo with the TTruck that was offered with each award.

One can only imagine what lays in wait for the Beavs as they enter the BBBBBL DLeague this season. Will Dogg's 6 week trip to SE Asia cost him his chance to repeat either his MVP success or his drunken hostilities with the random old duck at Marienetti's? Will MVP night 2007b also finish with Lozcrest sending TZilla a petrified text at 5.30am asking where Nate is- only to discover that he's been downstairs asleep on the couch for hours? Will Flip return to the BBBBL be enough to bring him back permanantly? Will T still be able to afford the drive to the Belcodome? Only time will tell.

Countdown to MVP Night 2007

The picture of Dirk can only mean one thing right? T typed in MVP into a google images search (and when that didn't work, he typed in MVP and Dirk) because it was time to blog about the upcomming MVP night.

It seems like only six months ago that we awarded TBook with seemingly every award up for grabs including his second MVP trophy. Stevo was the Steve Nash of the BBBBL (not to be confused with the Steve Nash on the Dragons or the Steve Nash on the Chokers), and you'd no doubt be MV3 this year.

But Steve's not playing anymore and thats left the field wide open! Name me a Beaver that hasn't put his hand up?!

In what may be the closest contest for the MVP we've ever had its really too close to call. Traditional level heads of Snaq and the Tang Dynasty have consistently steered the Beaver boat through rough waters, while power houses Statsquatch and Edmundo (who deserves extra votes for the beard he was wearing at Steve's farewell) have hosted stella 3 vote games all season long. The addition of HH went from strength to strength and only got better when the second half of the Dynamic Duo was added in in December. Before falling victim to a bad case of aural sex in the off season, LongTan was taking the bull by the horns as one of the Beavs' main offensive weapons. After being offered the staring role in an illicit film, MVT front runner TZilla may have to settle for bridesmaid again- but did return from the US with something to prove.

Nathan Speed also had a good season.
As testimony to how close this race really will be- voting for the auxilliary awards has been finalised. TTrucker recieved 21 votes, Doggcrest the third 19 votes and Tight Reigns 16 votes across all categories. For these awards no one has proven to be a lock- I doubt even Stats' traditional NAB Rising Star Award would have gone to him had it been on offer!

So pimp yourselves up! Roll out the red carpets and remember its BYO. Friday night is where the action will be...

Flip all my flippers!!!

Since the beginning of time, there have been events....events that have shaped and moulded the human experience in ways that can not (and should not) be cheapened with mere words. Man goes to war, man steps on the moon (cant remember the order).....then not much happened....until now. Flip cautiously steps into the world of blog and he feels at peace. He feels that perhaps, for the first time, the rest of the world (is this a private blog?....Oh well) can share in Flip's experiences. The victories, the tragedies....mostly the tragedies. So in beginning my blog adventure I will leave you with these parting words of inspiration:

What is fear?.....blah blah blah, give flip money. Can't really remember the first part.

Silver Lining

It has been a mixed week Beavs. It started out in raucus fashion when in inconsipicous beavs outing went all too wrong for one of our more tenacious members (we'll get back to that).

First up, the Beavs this week fell at their final hurdle when they went down to the Intergalactic A** Invaders. It was a close game and we fought hard but alas it was not to be. We can take some solice from the fact that the Jayeyes got pumped by the Predictable Chokers (who didn't deserve their finals berth in the first place). We can take even more solice from the fact that we had a great all round season in which all the Beavs stepped up their games. Congrats Beavs
and I can't wait to lace up again for next season.

On wednesday night, four of the Beavs (D-Crest, T-Bone, Double H and T-Scope) took to the court for the rats in the A2 grand final in a grudge match with the Ramblers. The golden ones jumped out of the gate and led the rats by 9 and quarter time and threatened to blow it out in the second. In typical fashion, the Beavs came to the fore and kept the rats in the
game: T-bone shouldered the opposition aside with ease; T-Scope played with rediculous hussle; Dogg found his range from the J and Double H was the general that we have come to expect. Still the ramblers went into the final terms with a 7 point advantage. Under enormous pressure from the ratties however they began to choke (rumour has it they will be donning and teal strip next season). With 5 seconds left on the clock and the rats trailing by 2, Double H drove to the bucket and dropped a pressure basket to force the game into OT. From there it was all HUGE!!! He took control of the game and kept a steady head and the Rats triumphed 62-61. Great
work Beaver-Rats!!!

Now...back to that outing. Last saturday afternoon a few of the beavs (Bone, Dogg and Dodge) headed to see the delightful romp that was Keating. As the actors began to explore 1995, Alexander Downer came to the stage decked out in his finest Dr Frank-N-Furter ensemble. After belting out a number or two, he entered the crowd and spent a few minutes sitting on the oldies' laps in the front rows. He was then heard to remark, as he headed towards the beavs, "where are the young ones who are still sexually confused". The beavs let out a unified sigh of relief as he entered the row behind them.....that is until dodgy felt a hand on this head and a d*ck in his ear as the disgruntled polly started banging away his party room frustrations. It couldn't have happened to a nicer (or more confused) guy jonny!!

Hungry Hungry Beavos

Flippin' A! Doesn't get any better than this! 3 weeks ago I remember walking to work as pumped as Dodgy's Molten after we destroyed the Blue Chips, then again last week again as we held off IAI, having jumped from one peak to another. Poor Snaq has had to put up with my roaring, chanting and chest beating until 2 in the morning (but thats OK- I have to put up with his crumbs on the bench, freakin' capsicum juice on the floor and that pair of dirty socks which only just made their way out of the hallway!).

But then March 26: Beavers (5th) v Jayeyes (3rd) happened.

Talk about heart and the beavers of old! A return to the glory days. We had a job to do and flip me dead we got it done. Like the game v IAI, we were again outsized (which happens a lot to a team with 2 players at 6'4" and Nath at 6"3.5', and then adds TScope and Stats to the mix. Snaq's a 7 footer too) but played like we were all 6 inches taller.

Nathaniel got us off running- purchasing all our first quarter points and playing like a dog with bone for the whole freakin game. Dub and Scope are easily the best 1-2 punch in the whole of the BBBBBL. Stats was so huge on the offensive boards lately that (no disrespect to the Canyon) would see the Mr Boards award a hotly contested ballot. That tip in the third qtr deserves a special mention bro. The backcourt was again sensational! I have the best seat in the house to watch the killer defense run by the Gnomes: Long Mamba and Long Tan (dammit Tangles if you hadn't have had your wisdom teeth out- I could have said Long Tang as well!). You guys create half our offense from your defense. Ed made an enormous statment last night regarding the Mr Hustle Award... and for Mr Defense... and for Mr Injection... and for Mr Intangiables.

After two weeks of not talking myself up, I just want to add a little sumpin' sumpin' on your favourite pair of shoulders. I playing out of my skin these last few weeks. T is in the zone. 17 points to the big fella last night including a run of 8 straight unanswered in the second. I'm trying to keep my attitude positive, and my chin up. Keep feeding THippo and he'll keep eating.

They never let up, and in the dying moments they brought it as close as three points.

Jayeyes- thanks for coming, but there's the door. Beavs 42 def Jayeyes 36.

Payback's a bitch.

Next week the conso final- which'll prob have us down for a match v Electric Boogooloo (6th). Forget about kickin' ass, lets crack some heads. We shouldn't have to hold the ball v these guys, we should blow em clear out of the park.

Roar.

-THippo
Really big.

Beavs in the NZNBL

If half the nbl.com.au news items refer to the NZNBL, the ABA and the NBA it seems only fair that ebeavs does the same for its Beavs in other leagues.

TGazelle (nimbler than he looks) and Lil Bow Wow are 3 from 3 this week (again) after huge wins in both their Rats games. Ordinarily I wouldn't even mention these results but I scored 29 of our mixed team's 63 points (nate with 17 of his own), and last night our Rats (which includes HH and Scope) ran a drill session for the A2 version of the Razorbacks- whipping them 124-9. Thats not a typo. Thats a 115 point differential. Thats two teams in the wrong division. Thats the BBBBBL...

(JTan lost mixed. Sorry mate. If the blog were up last week I could have mentioned you icing three free throws after the buzzer to tie the game, but it wasn't- so I can't.)
